Per-Nils Snygg at Senseair has prepared a short video showing the assembly of the TRIAGE multi-pass gas cell (MPC). The MPC reflects the supercontinuum beam many times between two mirrors in a chamber containing the gas to be sampled. Thus, the effective interaction length of the gas with the IR radiation is greatly extended, the absorption by the gas is correspondingly increased and the signal to noise ratio dramatically improved. The MPC is extremely sensitive to mechanical or temperature changes, so the design is critical to avoid misalignment during operation.
